Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee – Show 9

February 18, 2007

Back together again after the landlord skived off for a holiday in Hawaii, so there’s a lot to catch up on in this bumper, bonus, extra-special edition.

We taste South African beer (only because the Globe of Beer spun there last time!), and discover that Castle Lager is rather disappointing, but our guest barman, Johann, has some alternative suggestions                                                                 http://www.castlelager.co.za/Home.aspx

Thom Tash, brewmaster at the Kona Brewing Co., Kona, Hawaii, provides us with a great interview and tells us about how he came to Hawaii, and talks about some of their brews.                                         http://www.konabrewingco.com/

The Chicago-connection music is a final farewell and thanks to The Chicago Bears.  No Superbowl trophy for them, but a great season nonetheless.  This recording is from Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, who in 1986, provided us with a live version of the Bears fight song, “Bear Down, Chicago Bears”

The second and final part of our look at Midwest Outdoors TV program, finding out from Jeff Carrion about his views on home video production, the exotic locales he has visited, and the Tale of the Wave of the Dead Chicken!

Finally, our special guest from the UK, Richard Vobes, googles in to the program and we chat on a variety of topics, and find out about his pending trip to the USA.                                www.vobes.com
