Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee – Show 17

June 10, 2007

As promised, we bring you our Globe of Beer tasting session, and Lingo is back!!

Also, joining us in the pub for a chat is our pal, Trucker Mike, and luckily he’s left his truck outside!

Below are approximate start times for each segment – skip forward to the piece you want to listen to, or just listen to us all.  Remember there is a STOP/START button!!

00:00 Introduction

01:49 Welcome Trucker Mike to the pub…let’s find out about his cool job!!

9:50   In the pub we have 3 Russian Beers, and Dave G has another 2 up in Milwaukee.  We sample Baltika 3 and 7, and Dave goes for 8 and 9.

Our overall rating is about a 2.5 / 10…’nuff said!!

22:06 The other Russian offering is Bogemia Pale Beer.  This proves to be a malt liquor with a kick like a drunken donkey!  At over 8%, this will put hair on your chest, AND make for a good drain-cleaning fluid as well!

Our rating – 1 / 10 for showing up!

(if your Russian is good!)

26:30 Thank goodness for a back-up beer.  Not strictly Russian, but certainly much better and from a Midwest brewer, the Sprecher Russian Imperial Stout saves the day.  Cool ceramic flip-top blue bottle.  Has a number of good flavors, and and very nice aroma.   USBrit says it’s not as smooth as some RIS’s he’s tasted, but very good all the same.

  Our rating – 8 /10.

32:38 Our behind-the-scenes audio segment as we have dinner with the ChicagoBites girls, Tammy and Bridget, at a suburban restaurant.  They have a       full review on their web-site.

45:44 In our wrap-up Trucker Mike spins the Globe of Beer for next time, and lands in Polynesia, so it’s Surf Up for Hawaiian beer.

Be sure to watch for our special Father’s Day edition next week, where we report from the 4th Annual Beer Barons of Milwaukee, World of Beer!!!
