Pubcast from The Brit and Yankee – Show 10

March 5, 2007

Woo- hoo!!  We’re in to double-figures!!

In this show we take the Brit and Yankee downtown for an outside broadcast – OB to us in the business (smirk!).  Goose Island Brewpub is hosting StoutFest 2007, and we’ve got “press passes”!!  So we avoided the sample-and-drive issue, jumped on Metra, and headed into the big city!

Our host for the afternoon was Constance Cooper, Public Relations Manager for Goose Island, and many thanks go out to her for being the PERFECT host.

There were 10 brewers and brewpubs featured at this event, and it was certainly well-attended.  There were over 40 stout varieties available for sampling, and we only got through a small number of them.  The event benefited the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild – http://www.illinoisbeer.com/

We had too many favorites to really pick one out, but USBrit found out that not ALL fruit flavored beers were bad, as the Bourbon Barrel Imperial Cherry Stout from America’s Brewing in Aurora, IL, showed its colors.  Enough fruit to add a slight tartness to the otherwise rich stout flavor.  Many thanks to all the brewers for allowing us to taste their wares!!

Pictures will be available soon at The Brit and Yankee website – follow the ‘Photos’ link.

Also in this show, we have a listener voicemail that challenges USBrit and Lingo to play some darts!

We’ll be back in the Brit and Yankee pub next show, so be sure to stop by for a pint and a chat.

Cheers!!
